SPROUT is about celebrating and honouring the gifts, the beauty and the power of womanhood. We invite women, becoming women and girls onto a journey of joyful and deep connections, of intentionally discovering essential and sometimes lost aspects of womanhood, of preparing for the different phases of life (Rites of Passage) and of lovingly growing within a community of women, daughters, mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, nieces, friends, wisdom keepers, storytellers and facilitators.
Our ceremonies, rites, programmes and work (play) shops as well as our affirmation cards offer various opportunities to tap into the journey of womanhood from young and playful girl to mature and wise (and still playful) woman.
We have seen and experienced the need of female connection and the tremendous beauty, power and healing that takes place when women come together and intentionally and consciously celebrate, re-discover and share their female gifts.
Ursula and Marlen, the chief mothers of SPROUT, felt specifically inspired by their own daughters to create and sprout a community of girls and women. The journey of raising a girl is not always easy and indeed it takes a village to raise a child. Ursula and Marlen wish to cultivate an enriching, joyful and exciting journey from girl to woman and from woman to woman.

Ursula
Ursula has a long history in the field of community health and education. She carries a special interest in the holistic and homeopathic approach to health and psychological wellbeing. Ursula is a practicing Kinesiologist and contributing all her knowledge, experience and wisdom to the offerings at Sprout.
Driven by her passion for people, she is particularly invested in the wellbeing of women as well as the relationships within families. Nurturing and raising her 4 children (among them are 3 daughters :)) with her husband has been a top priority with the view that strong families build exceptional communities which can ripple out into South Africa and the world.
Ursula’s dearest wish and life work is for all women as well as families to grow together, connect meaningfully and enjoy a rich life as part of a larger conscious community.

Marlen is passionate about empowering specifically women and youth to grow personally in authentic and purposeful ways. She loves to foster deep connection with one’s dreams, strengths, values and meaning in life. She believes that by becoming aware of our many positive qualities and by connecting with our genuine self we can heal, grow, transform and have loving and whole relationships with ourselves and others. To her this also means to re-discover aspects of ourselves that were sometimes long forgotten.
Marlen is a registered Wellness Practitioner and member of the Association of Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners in South Africa. She is also a keen student of Positive Psychology. Besides making her dreams come true with her friend and business partner Ursula through SPROUT, she is also the founder of the non-profit organisation YouthVentures Africa and facilitates various empowerment programmes for youth and women.
Marlen is also known for her sound journeys and sound massages which she dearly calls Touch of Sound experiences.
